As April marks another year since the outbreak of war in Sudan, AMEL invites the international community to join a timely and grounded conversation reflecting on three years of survival, adaptation, and collective resilience. Across Sudan, communities have not only endured, they have organized, improvised, and sustained life under extraordinarily difficult conditions. From emergency response rooms to grassroots initiatives, Sudanese volunteers have stepped in where systems collapsed. This session brings together four individuals who have been at the forefront of these efforts, working closely with displaced communities, navigating insecurity, and responding to rapidly evolving needs on the ground.
The forum will be a space for reflection, exchange, and honest conversation among Sudanese and international actors. Together, we will explore:
How Sudanese communities have sustained themselves over three years of war
What has worked and what has been most challenging
What the future in Sudan might look like from the perspectives of community responders
The forum will conclude with an interactive dialogue, including audience questions, reflections, and insights.
